What are Healthy Habits?

Healthy habits are a set of behaviors and decisions that we incorporate into our daily lives with the intention of preventing health problems and improving our physical, mental, and social well-being.

In essence, they are actions that help you feel and live better, contributing to a better quality of life and life expectancy.

The main pillars of healthy habits include:

  • 馃崕 Balanced Diet: Consuming a varied diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and complex carbohydrates, while limiting the intake of processed foods, saturated fats, sugar, and salt. Staying well-hydrated (drinking enough water) is also key.

  • 馃弮‍♀️ Regular Physical Activity: Engaging in exercise or physical activity for at least 30 minutes a day to strengthen bones, heart, and lungs, maintain a healthy weight, and boost mood.

  • 馃槾 Optimal Sleep and Rest: Getting the adequate number of hours of sleep (generally between 7 and 9 hours for adults) and maintaining a regular sleep pattern to allow the body to recover and regenerate.

  • 馃毇 Avoiding Toxic Habits: Not smoking, not using drugs, and limiting alcohol consumption or abstaining completely.

  • 馃‍♀️ Stress Management and Mental Wellness: Learning to manage emotions and impulses, finding ways to reduce chronic stress (such as meditation or yoga), and maintaining a positive attitude.

  • 馃Ψ Personal Hygiene: Maintaining adequate hygiene, including oral care (brushing teeth, washing hands, etc.).

  • 馃┖ Medical Check-ups: Following your healthcare provider's recommendations and undergoing routine check-ups.
